PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (WFXR) — The Dollywood Parks and Resorts is getting ready to celebrate the beauty of the fall with its 2023 Harvest Festival.
Starting on Sept. 20, the resort will kick off the season filling the park with thousands of carved pumpkins and entertainment that will keep families in the spirit and tastes of fall. Over 2,000 artists will take the stage, and of course, the “Great Pumpkin LumiNights” is back.
“A day at Dollywood looks like literally dozens of entertainment concerts. I think the last count I had was about 12,000 pumpkins,” said Ellen Liston, Dollywood Public Relations Manager.
Each year, Dollywood embodies the fall season featuring everything pumpkin from decor to sweet treats. The fest was rated by USA Today Readers as America’s No. 1 Fall Family event.
Liston says last year they added several new displays including its giant pumpkin owl and pumpkin tree. However, at night the park comes to life.
“All the pumpkins during the day, they come to life at night. They glow,” said Liston.
Liston shared there will be new honey bees this fall, and a new pumpkin-flavored barbecue sauce that can go on a pulled pork sandwich or sweet potatoes.
She says this year, explorers can get a tasting pass, that will come with five samples of different delicacies throughout the park.
But, if you are not there for just the bright colors, and the flavors of fall, the amusement features thrilling rides including the new Big Bear Mountain.
