DANVILLE, Va. (WFXR) — A family from Danville raked in some fast money on television’s Family Feud this week. But if there is anything the Scott family knows, it’s being fast!
The team was made up of the grandchildren of Hall of Fame driver Wendell Scott, the only African-American to win a race in NASCAR’s top division.
Family Feud host Steve Harvey told the audience, “Wendell Scott is huge. That’s a part of Black history. That’s really great.”
The Scotts used the opportunity of appearing on national television to tell the audience about the mission of the Wendell Scott Foundation, which provides educational opportunities to local at-risk youth.
The foundation puts a special emphasis on STEM education, which focuses on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
In an interview this week, Chinique Scott said, “We want to utilize that legacy to inspire other kids whether it’s to take up a trade or go to school or interest in motorsports or behind the scenes in motorsports. We just want to open up those opportunities for them to step into to be the greatest they can absolutely be.”
The Scotts did the absolute best they could, easily winning the game, and then gave every number one answer in the Fast Money round, winning them the $20,000 top bonus round prize.
The episode of Family Feud was a special Disney episode. The Scotts say that was a great coincidence as their grandfather was the inspiration for River Scott, one of the characters in the Disney movie “Cars 3.”
