Runners hit the street to participate in the virtual Drumstick DASH

Drumstick Dash

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Runners are gearing up and hitting the road as the virtual Drumstick DASH officially kicks off Monday.

Those participating in the virtual race can choose to either walk or run a 5k on their own course at any time between Nov. 1 and Nov. 30. If you are competing, on the Drumstick DASH website you can see how you are doing compared to your competition. The website allows you to submit virtual results as either an individual or as a team.

The Drumstick DASH helps raise money for the Rescue Mission of Roanoke, which serves more than 200,000 meals a year to those in need.

Those looking to participate in the virtual race can still sign up on the Drumstick DASH website.

Organizers say they still need volunteers to help with race day. There are still several openings available for the days leading up to the race and on race day. If you would like to volunteer to help with the race, please visit the Rescue Mission website to sign up.
