UPDATE 12:21 p.m.: Monday morning brought some major news about this year’s Drumstick DASH in downtown Roanoke, including the name of the 5K’s new sponsor.

The Rescue Mission of Roanoke held a news conference downtown on Monday, Aug. 22, announcing that Pinnacle Bank will sponsor the 2022 Drumstick DASH.

The 5K race benefits dining services at the rescue mission for adults and children rising out of poverty.

Kevin Berry with the Roanoke Rescue Mission says the shelter has worked with Pinnacle in the past and is proud to bring the bank back as part of this year’s annual event.

“We’re beyond excited to partner with Pinnacle Bank and bring this race downtown where it has always been — except for the past two years — and where it should always be,” Berry said.

While the rescue mission cannot announce the exact course yet, organizers say the Drumstick DASH will start and end at Elmwood Park.

As of this writing, more than 600 participants have already signed up for the Drumstick DASH, which you can run or walk in person on Nov. 24 or virtually from Nov. 24 through Nov. 30.

WFXR News is a proud media sponsor of the event and will be covering the Drumstick DASH live on Thanksgiving morning.
