ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — The runners are prepping, the track is set, and organizers are excited about this year’s Drumstick DASH in Roanoke.
In 2020, organizers were faced with the challenges of the pandemic. This led to organizers making the decision to hold the race virtually throughout November and December.
However, this year, the event is back in downtown Roanoke on Thanksgiving morning.
The 5K and family walk helps to benefit the Rescue Mission of Roanoke. The Rescue Mission serves more than 200,000 meals a year to those in need.
However, organizers say they need volunteers for the event. They still have several openings available for the days leading up to the race and on race day.
If you would like to participate, please visit the Rescue Mission website to sign up.
