RICHMOND, VA(WFXR) — We are one day closer to the three day race weekend at the Richmond Raceway on Friday. It is the start of a three race short track run for NASCAR as it will go from Richmond this week, to Martinsvillle next week and to the dirt race at Bristol in two weeks. Richmond Raceway president Dennis Bickmeier said this is a fun time for commonwealth race fans.

“We have seen it with fans like this between Richmond and Martinsville and with Bristol being in the mix this year in the front end and this case on the back end of this three race set, it is not uncommon to see people in RVs and to make it to all three races and we are kicking off this three race short track stretch right now and we have been on the other side of it. We have been race two or race three. What I like is that things can heat up here at Richmond we will see what happens at Martinsville and what happens in Bristol. It is exciting times for the sport of NASCAR and for all. It is a stretch where we have the short tracks back to back to back. And like I said there are some drivers that need some good things to happen and you know Joe Gibbs racing and the Richmond Raceway has been good to Joe Gibbs Racing and we will see if they can get healthy this weekend here at Richmond,” said Bickmeier.
