ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — May is Mental Health Awareness month. It opens up the opportunity for our community to speak openly about every day struggles and break through the stigma of mental illness. With a lot of athletes speaking out about their troubles with mental health, pro and college teams over the last decade, have employed mental conditioning coordinators. For the last 4 years, Lauren Johnson served as a mental conditioning coordinator for the New York Yankees. Now Johnson is a Mental Performance Coach. She produces mid week mindset videos as part of helping people and athletes with meditation to goal-setting to managing anxiety.
