PEMBROKE, Va. (WFXR) – Mountain Lake Lodge reopened their doors in early May after being shut down due to COVID-19 concerns. Since then, the Lodge has seen their guests return to this historic site.
For one great-grandmother, it means a great deal to be able to continue her family tradition.
“I’d say the first time we came here was in the ’60s, when we had two sons, and they were, I don’t remember exactly, 13 and 16, something like that. We brought them here, and then we brought at different times on and off till about either eight or nine years ago.”Edna Hoffman – Guest at Mountain Lake Lodge
The waters of Mountain Lake have been steadily rising. Staff, as well as guests, hope this trend continues. Mountain Lake Lodge has put together a short documentary explaining the strange phenomenon.
“I think even the hydrologists and scientists, geologists who have worked on it find it hard to explain, but, they did a good job. We put a video together where they did the best that they could to explain these things, called “The Mystery of the Lake” and it’s on the website.”Heidi Stone – General Manager / Mountain Lake Lodge
Mountain Lake Lodge has plenty to offer its guests, one main attraction is the now self-guided “Dirty Dancing” tour.
“This is wonderful, they give a map with all the different locations where filming was done and it’s great to just see all the different scenes and where they were filmed and it made it really easy to follow.”Kay Mills – Guest at Mountain Lake Lodge
