ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – Shenandoah Baptist Church and one of its ministries Camp Eagle joined efforts to put together a food drive for one of the communities the church provides summer camp programs too.

“The Camp staff is here today and they’re providing support. We’re going to the Villages of Lincoln and thats a group an area that we provide campership weeks for all throughout the summer.”

Mark DeLong – Discipleship Pastor / Shenandoah Baptist Church

The goal of today’s food drive was to provide 50 reusable grocery bags filled with donated food items to 50 families… Mark DeLong explains their expectations were nearly doubled.

“…our goal was to have 50 bags for 50 families, to be able to support them, just provide some food with children being out of school and support some senior citizens… and we probably have enough for 100 is my guess. It’s amazing how much has come in in just a short effort.”

Shenandoah Baptist Church had this to say to all their staff, members and those who contributed to today’s food drive.

“Thank you for your overwhelming support of our efforts to serve those who are in need. We have been incredibly blessed and received enough food to easily surpass our goals.”
