ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – Today March 24th is now recognized as the “Great American Take-Out” day. This day is being used to shed light on all the great take-out and curbside options that exist in your neighborhood.
The Great American Takeout twitter account posted a pinned post this morning stating:
Over 100 national and local restaurants are taking part in social media posts and signs posted out in front of their businesses.
“We have to make it clear, we’ve been losing money for the past two weeks… or you know when it first started but we decided to keep our doors open for our employee’s to make sure they could have money.”Johnathan Kelly – Owner / Wokology
Many see this as a huge challenge, but some business owners and operators remain optimistic about it.
“Well… you know, we’re like eveyone else, we’re struggling but, it’s nothing that we cant get through and hoping by offering this curbside service people can get anything that they want.”Robin Howery – General Manager / Hollywood’s
Many of our local restaurants are very much a part of the community, with last week’s Wokology serving free sandwiches to children out of school who rely on school lunches for daily meals.
“…we stayed open for that to so we could do deliveries all last week, we were making sandwiches in here then delivering them out to different parts of town… that’s why we’re where.”Johnathan Kelly – Owner / Wokology
Simply put, taking it day by day and showing gratitude will carry us through.
“We’re taking it day by day and any long term view is kind of hard to predict right now and we just want to thank you for being such a loyal community guest family.”Robin Howery – General Manager / Hollywood’s
