ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — It’s that time of the year again and as many are turning back their clocks, firefighters took the time to make sure smoke alarms were working in a Roanoke County community.

On Nov. 4, the Roanoke County Fire & Rescue Department teamed up with the American Red Cross Virginia Region to install and check smoke alarms in the Mount Pleasant area.

With the help of 20 volunteers, crews served 18 homes and 46 people. During this time, volunteers installed 34 alarms and changed 6 batteries.
