ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Two organizations have created a space where parents can rejoice. The Huddle Up Moms and Postpartum Support Virginia hosted its grand opening of The Haven on 5th in Downtown Roanoke on Feb. 18.

The Haven sits on 808 5th Street SW and serves as a place of encouragement for pregnant and postpartum parents in the community.

It all began when a group met in 2019 for the Southwest Virginia Mom Expo. With goals to empower and educate parents on topics including mental health, physical therapy, self-advocacy, and more, the group established the Huddle Up Moms organization.

Since the Roanoke-based non-profit partnered with Postpartum Support Virginia to assist parents in the Roanoke and New River Valley area.

We envision this as a place where the community can offer educational programs, opportunities to connect moms to resources, hold events such as yoga and other wellness offerings, and much more,”

said Huddle Up Moms` Executive Director, Jaclyn Nunziato.

The Haven hosts groups dedicated to infant feeding and breastfeeding support, birthing cycles, postpartum support, and mother/baby education. The facility is also a place where mothers can connect with similar experiences. These topics included exercise, physical therapy, self-advocacy, neurobiology, mental health, and more. Since the group established the organization with the mission to encourage moms in the Roanoke and New River Valley area.
