(WFXR) – From cookie decorating to karaoke, businesses across the region are preparing for St. Patrick’s Day celebrations.
Whether you are looking to celebrate with family or friends, here is a list of events happening across the Roanoke Valley and Central Virginia.
Lynchburg:
St. Patrick’s Scavenger Hunt
Lynchburg Parks and Recreation is hosting a free scavenger hunt at Riverside Park to search for the Lynchburg Leprechaun’s Gold. Stop at the Parks and Rec tent at Spray Ground Parking Lot from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, March 17 to pick up a clue card. Each card will give you a hint to help find the lucky pot of gold. Guests will be rewarded after completing a clue card.
Lucky Dog Adoption Special
Calling all pet lovers. Get ready for the Lynchburg Humane Society’s for its Lucky Dog Adoption Special on March 17th. From 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., all dog adoptions will be $17. All microchips will be an additional $15.
Roanoke Valley:
Wood Paint Party
On Sunday, March 12 the Twin Creeks Brewing Company is partnering with Unique Memorial & Gifts for its St. Patrick’s Day Wood Paint Party. Guests will show off their painting skills and choose from six St. Patrick’s Day-themed crafts. The event is family-friendly from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Twin Creeks Brewing Company in Vinton.
Chad Cox on the Dock
North Tazewell native, Artist Chad M. Cox will be performing at Twin Creeks Brewing Company at 6:30 p.m. on the Dock. Chad is known to cover a wide of genres. The brewery will be offering Galway Girl Irish Red Ale.
Roanoke Country Club
The Roanoke Country Club is hosting its St. Patrick’s Day Cookie Decorating Contest on Thursday, March 16. From 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., the cookie decorating battle will take place in the club’s private dining room. The contest costs $5 per child. Additionally, the club is hosting dinner specials at the Terrace Grille restaurant. Menu specials include their Beer and Potato Soup, Irish and Beef Stew Over Barley, Smoked Corned Beef Platter, and more. Reservations for the cookie contest and dinner can be made online or by calling 540-345-1508.
St. Patty Murder Mystery
Jump Into Mystery and Stoney Brook Vineyards are hosting its “St. Patty’s Murder Mystery” event on Thursday, March 16. Starting at 6 p.m. each guest will play a character while interrogating suspects and solving clues. Tickets are available online.
Fork in the Market
Fork in the Market is kicking off its St. Patrick’s Day celebration on Saturday, March 11 with a day full of festivities. With live music from William Seymour from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. the musician will take the Fork in the Market spotlight. Quest Entertainment will DJ from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. leading into karaoke. Guests will get the chance to hit the stage from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. and perform their favorite tunes.
St. Pitties Day
In celebration of St. Patrick’s Day, the Regional Center for Animal Care and Protection (RCACP) is hosting a St. Pitties Day on March 17 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The event is at the RCACP on Baldwin Ave NE and is to promote the adoption of Pitbull/ Pit Mixes. All Pitbull and cat adoptions will be free and all other dog adoptions will be $20.
Leprechaun Hunt
Lucky the Leprechaun is on a mission and a trail of clues has been left behind. On March 18, join the Roanoke County Parks Recreation and Tourism for its Leprechaun Hunt through Explore Park from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., or 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. to find the lucky treasure. This event is for children three and up and costs $4.
