SALEM, Va. (WFXR)– Smithfield, the leading sponsor of the Commonwealth Clash, honored Feeding Southwest and their mission on Monday, Nov. 20.

Smithfield, a Virginia-based pork producer and processing company, provided lunch boxes for staff and volunteers, and donated protein to the food bank in order to help Feeding Southwest during the holiday season.

Since the 2014-15 school year, Smithfield has sponsored the Commonwealth’s Clash rivalry between University of Virginia and Virginia Tech across all sporting events. However, Smithfield sees this sponsorship as more than promoting college athletics and looks to support the communities surrounding UVA and VT.
