BUCHANAN, Va. (WFXR) — Mark your calendars! The 5th annual ‘Freedom Fest’ is happening at New Freedom Farm on April 22nd and 23rd.

Freedom Fest is a fundraiser bringing awareness to the farm’s mission of “healing heroes through horses.” WFXR’s very own Chief Meteorologist, John Carroll, will be emceeing the event!

On both Saturday and Sunday, Freedom Fest will offer live music, food, special ceremonies, and a chance to spend time with the animals on the farm. Both days will run from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

New Freedom Farm rescues animals from poor living conditions and gives them a new chance at life, and a purpose. The Wild Mustangs serve as therapeutic animals to veterans and first responders struggling with post-traumatic stress disorder, substance use, traumatic brain injury, and other conditions.

“We believe it is the essence of the Wild Mustang combined with their journeys to us that makes our program unique. The sensitivity of the Wild Mustang delivers honesty and truth for the veteran who is having trouble trusting others,” said Lois Dawn Magill, founder of New Freedom Farm.

Tickets for the festival are $8 for adults and children under 17 will get in for free. Attendees will be entered in a raffle for a chance to win a $500 Visa gift card.
