ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – Get ready to run for your lives! The West End Center for Youth is holding its annual ‘Spooky Sprint 5k’ on October 28 on the Roanoke Riber Greenway beginning at Wasena Park.

The morning will start off with a costume contest at 8:30 a.m., followed by the race at 9:00 a.m. Prizes will be given out for best costumes and medals will be presented for lead runners in each age group and overall race winners.

Following the race, the West End Center will have food and drinks for participants, music, an awards ceremony, face painting, and a bouncy house.

All proceeds from the Spook Sprint will benefit the West End Center students. The center is dedicated to helping the West End neighborhood by offering safe, nurturing, and enriching after-school and full-day summer experiences for the children. This includes offering programs in academic enrichment, wellness, and social skills development.
