Blacksburg, Va. (WFXR) — It’s as though some people are just born to be musicians. That certainly seems to be the case for 18-year-old Isaac Hadden from Blacksburg, Virginia.
“I was actually almost born at FloydFest… it was during Aaron Neville’s set and I guess I wanted to come out and catch the set.”Isaac Hadden, Musician
That was in 2002. Isaac’s mom was a little over eight months pregnant at the time. Luckily, Isaac didn’t make an early debut that day, but his musical prowess did. It’s as though he was drawn to Aaron Neville’s soulful tunes from the womb. Isaac says his parents exposing him to music early on is what ignited his passion.
“My parents always did take me to music festivals and concerts and stuff, so I guess that’s really kind of what got everything started, just being around music so much at the beginning of my life that I wanted to do it myself.”Isaac Hadden, Musician
Isaac was three years old when he started playing the guitar. He is now a multi-instrumentalist.
“I had a little banjo ukulele that I would just plug around some chords on and then when I was five I asked my mom for guitar lessons, so then I started going. In addition to guitar, I actually play the drums and bass. I’ve been playing both of those for about six years. Those are kind of the main ones that I would say I can play. I’ve also been learning some clawhammer banjo recently, so that’s been fun! I took piano lessons briefly for a little bit, that’s sort of there.”Isaac Hadden, Musician
Isaac was only 15 years old when he formed the Isaac Hadden Project. The jam band got together in preparation for a performance at the 5 Points Music Sanctuary in Roanoke. Isaac says the group works really well with one another.
“I just needed a band for that, people that I knew were going to show up and kill it, so I called up some local all-star musicians and we’ve just been rolling with it ever since.”Isaac Hadden, Musician
Music has taken Isaac on many adventures. He has traveled outside of the country for gigs, played alongside preeminent musicians, and has attended his fair share of music festivals.
Hadden played the Rooster Walk Festival over the weekend for Moe- morial Day and will be playing at the upcoming FloydFest Music Festival… talk about full circle.
