ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — The Life Ring Foundation has announced that Darius Rucker is on his way to Roanoke and will be ‘Fighting Kids’ Cancer‘ with a portion of ticket proceeds going directly to children in Southwest Virginia.

Three-time Grammy award winner Darius Rucker will perform at Elmwood Park on Thursday, June 15th. Drew Green will be kicking off the show at 6:00 p.m. Tickets will go on sale Friday, March 17th at 10:00 a.m.

Eight dollars from each ticket sold will not only benefit the foundation but will fund a pediatric cancer center that provides the best care and outcomes for children living in Southwest Virginia.

“We are on a mission to improve survival rates for our kids with cancer in the Roanoke Valley.  We are so moved that Downtown Roanoke Inc has given us an incredible opportunity to raise money and awareness for this critical cause,” said Kelly Woolwine, cofounder of The Life Ring Foundation.

The Fighting Kids’ Cancer initiative’s goal is to include a pediatric cancer treatment center in Carilion’s new cancer center. The Life Ring Foundation shares that currently, the best chance for children in Southwest Virginia to beat cancer often requires families to leave their homes and support systems. The Life Ring Foundation strives to increase the resources and care available to these families, so they do not have to endure additional suffering.
