UPDATE 10/26 AT 10:26 A.M. ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Roanoke police have launched a homicide investigation after a shooting left one person dead and two others injured early Thursday morning.

According to police, the call came in around 2:10 a.m. on Oct. 26, for a person with a gunshot wound in the 800 block of Hunt Avenue. Once on the scene, officers found a man with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries outside of a home.

As their investigation continued, officers were notified of two other victims who were injured in the shooting. Police said they found another man with non-life-threatening injuries and a third man with critical injuries inside a home in the area.

The victim who was found inside the home passed away at the scene.

RPD said the two other victims were taken to the hospital for treatment.

At this time, police have detained several people who were at the scene during the shooting. They were taken to the Roanoke Police Department and are being questioned by detectives, but no arrests have been made.

The shooting remains under investigation, however, RPD believes this was an isolated incident.

This is the first homicide in the City of Roanoke after more than 30 days.

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — The Roanoke Police Department is investigating an incident that occurred on Hunt Avenue on Oct. 26.

Details remain limited; however, there is a police presence in the 800 block of Hunt Avenue. Currently, a forensic unit is at the scene and the area is blocked off.
