ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – The City of Roanoke has announced its Bagged Leaf Collection Program schedule for the months of Nov. and Dec.

The leaf collection dates are:

  • Nov. 13-16
  • Nov. 27-30
  • Dec. 4-7
  • Dec. 11-14

The city will only accept biodegradable paper leaf bags during leaf collection weeks. These bags are available at local hardware stores, home centers, and other retailers. There is no limit to the number of paper leaf bags residents may place at the curb for pickup, but leaves collected in plastic bags will not be collected. Loose-leaf collection is not provided by the city.

There are some alternatives to bagging leaves for collection. This includes:

  • Mulch mowing
  • Composting
  • Use of private lawn maintenance services

The city of Roanoke says this year residents may have to call ahead to schedule service at (540) 853-2000 or option 1 or use the city’s IRonaoke Service Request App at www.roanokeva.gov/1180/Request-City-Services.

Bagged leaves will be serviced on your scheduled collection regardless of a schedule request courtesy. The city reminds residents to put their bagged leaves at the curb on the same day as their regular trash collection as bulk and brush, and recycling collections will continue.
