ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — The season for warm cups of hot chocolate, jingle bells, and holiday cheer is quickly approaching. And if you love enjoying the outdoors, the ice skating rink in Elmwood Park is back for the season.

Starting on Nov. 24, “Elmwood on Ice” is returning to the Star City for its eighth year. The popular downtown ice-skating rink is a family favorite in Roanoke and runs until Jan. 28.

With a special visit from the North Pole, Santa, and Mrs. Claus will be visiting to show off their skating skills on Dec. 9 and Dec. 16 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased at the rink during business hours and admission onto the ice is $10. Skate rentals are also available for $2, but are limited on the day of purchase. Organizers are also offering a season pass for $75 to skate anytime the rink is open. Group Rates are available for $15 with $2 off per person.

The outdoor rink can hold up to 100 skaters and is open on Friday through Sunday on the following schedule.

Friday6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Saturday11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Sunday12 p.m. to 7 p.m.
