DANVILLE, Va. (WFXR)—The Danville Police Department announced they will begin enforcement of illegal skill games at all establishments across the city beginning Dec. 16.
This decision comes after the Virginia Supreme Court lifted an injunction on the ban this past Oct. According to the police department, letters were hand delivered to business locations where skill games are in operation during the week of Nov. 9. The letter, written by multiple city leaders including Interim Police Chief Chris Wiles, explains the skill ban decision by the court to inform local businesses and provide notice.
“Any person who illegally gambles, conducts illegal gambling operation, permits its continuance, and/or illegally possesses gambling devices is subject to significant criminal and civil penalties,” reads the letter. “In the event of a citation, a subsequent offense may lead to the seizure of the skill gaming device.”
According to the city, the compliance deadline for the ban is Friday, Dec. 15.
