UPDATE 10/11 AT 8:01 A.M. BLUE RIDGE, Va. (WFXR) – Virginia State Police says a woman has been charged after crashing into a daycare in Botetourt County on Oct. 10.

State police say the crash remains under investigation; however, troopers were called to Laymantown Road on Tuesday. Investigators learned 84-year-old Bertha Marie Elliott, from Troutville, was driving a 2014 Toyota SUV when it smashed through the wall of the Children’s Nest Learning Center.

According to VSP, two infants and a teacher were taken to the hospital. Their condition is unknown at this time.

State Police said Elliott was injured in the crash and was also taken to the hospital. She was charged with Reckless driving.

BLUE RIDGE, Va. (WFXR) – The Botetourt County Department of Fire & EMS responded to a local daycare on Oct. 10 after a vehicle drove through the side of the building.

Around 1:45 p.m. on Tuesday, units arrived at the Children’s Nest Learning Center and found a Toyota completely inside the building after the crash.

Four people were injured, three of whom were taken to the hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The remaining children are all being reunited with their parents or guardians.

No further details are currently available. Virginia State Police say the investigation is ongoing.
