George Noleff is an Ohioan by birth and a Virginian by choice. He has nearly 40 years in media.
An avid outdoorsman and fisherman for more than half a century, he oversees our Outdoors Bound coverage. George has been known to go the extra mile to get the best outdoor story, including falling in the water.
You can see George’s Outdoors Bound reports Wednesday nights on WFXR News First at Ten, and on Thursday mornings during the 7:00 a.m. hour of Good Day Virginia. He also brings you Outdoors Bound reports through the week as stories come along.
In August of 2022, his bosses came to him and asked, “What do you know about agriculture?”
“Not much,” was George’s reply.
“Perfect,” the bosses replied. “You’ll ask the questions that our viewers would ask.”
With that, George also picked up the On the Farm beat and he’s been learning on the job ever since. You can see of his coverage of agriculture from a consumer perspective Friday nights during WFXR News at Six, as well as through the week when stories dictate.
In his spare time, you can often find George fishing, hiking, cooking, looking for salamanders, taking pictures, or reading. He has been known to play the occasional game of poker, too.
Before George took over Outdoors Bound, he worked as an outfitter for Cabela’s/Bass Pro, was a cook, a fishing lure designer, and a freelance writer.
His wife is a Virginia native. George has two children and three stepchildren. Oh, and two cats who always keep him on his toes.
