Drew Aunkst joined WFXR News as an Anchor in May of 2022 after spending more than two years at WIS-TV in Columbia, South Carolina as a Weekend Anchor and Reporter.
While in South Carolina, Drew reported on several stories that made national headlines including a mass shooting involving an ex-NFL player, major hurricanes, and the kidnapping and murder of 6-year-old Faye Swetlik.
He also spent a year at WDTV in West Virginia, where he worked almost every position in the newsroom. His official title was Morning Anchor / Producer, but he filled in as Executive Producer, nightside reporter, and even floor director on multiple occasions.
Drew is from Pittsburgh and attended Penn State University “WE ARE” where he earned a degree in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Business.
In 2019, Drew was nominated for a Southeast Regional Emmy, highlighting his commitment to in-depth, detailed journalism.
In his free time, Drew loves to be walking around outside and will catch any college game that he can!
