Breana Albizu

Breana graduated from Georgia State University with a degree in Journalism and a double minor in Spanish and Sociology.

During her time at GSU, she spent the summer of her sophomore year in Spain where she focused on Spanish studies at the Universidad de Granada.

Breana served as a reporter, an anchor, and the News Director for three years at her college television station, GSTV, where she had the opportunity to mentor students, produce stories, and host a weekly news show. She has been awarded Second Best TV Hard News Reporter at the 2016 Southeast Journalism Conference (SEJC) and Second Best Anchor through the onsite SEJC competition in 2017.

Breana was also a part of the Georgia News Lab, an award-winning investigative reporting collaborative between some of the top college journalism programs in Georgia and two leading news outlets. She also interned with WSB-TV, Atlanta’s #1 local news station, and “Crime and Justice with Ashleigh Banfield” on the CNN/Headline News network. Breana was asked to come back as a freelancer after graduation until the show ended in November 2018.

Breana enjoys spending time with friends and family, exploring new places, and attending Zumba classes.

She is very excited to call Roanoke her home. Feel free to send any story ideas her way (balbizu@wfxrtv.com). If you see Breana, don’t be shy, just say hi!
