Aaron Farrar joined WFXR in April 2020 as a morning news reporter.
Aaron spent the last two years as a multimedia journalist at WTVC in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
While in the Volunteer State, he won several Associated Press awards for his work.
Aaron was named Best TV Reporter in 2018 by the AP and won an award for best short light feature for a story of a World War II veteran receiving his high school diploma at 99 years old.
Aaron picked up another Associated Press award in 2019 for a short serious news story when a two-year-old girl went missing and was found sleeping on a porch a few blocks away from home.
He also worked at WTAP in Parkersburg, West Virginia from 2015 to 2018. He began his time in the Mountain State as a multimedia journalist before spending more than two years as the weekend sports anchor and reporter.
While there, Aaron won an Ohio AP award for best sports feature story about an elementary school basketball player who competed in a national free throw competition.
Born and raised in Paterson and Clifton, New Jersey, Aaron attended Rutgers University and graduated cum laude in May 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Media Studies, a Sports Journalism specialization and minor in music.
During his time at RU, he served as a segment producer at RU-tv Network, a beat reporter for Rutgers Athletics with RVision and a camera operator with the Big Ten Student U program.
He also interned with Sportsnet New York, WABC-TV Eyewitness News and News 12 New Jersey.
Aaron was also active outside of broadcasting. He was an orientation leader, involved in on-campus ministry as a musician and went to Los Angeles in 2013 for an alternative spring break community service trip.
Aaron pays homage to the late Harold Dow and mentor Jay Dow for inspiring him to pursue a career in broadcast journalism. He is grateful to call West Virginia his new home and is eager to tell your story.
When he is off the air, Aaron enjoys playing the piano, spending time with his wife and young son, and loyally rooting for the New York Knicks.
