APPOMATTOX COUNTY, Va. (WFXR)– The Appomattox County Public Safety Department has issued an outdoor burn ban effective immediately.

This decision is due to the current weather and dry conditions in the county that are favorable for any type of outdoor fire to spread and become out of control quickly. In fact, the National Weather Service has issued a fire weather watch for Saturday, Nov. 18 because of forecasted high winds and low humidity.

The county asks all citizens to not conduct any type of outdoor burning including campfires, burning of leaves, trash, debris, and bon fires until the area has received a significant amount of rainfall.
